The Business Journal of Milwaukee: Downtown condos: If you build them, they will come - Urban condo sales maintaining brisk pace

Soft market? Bursting bubble? Developers and real estate broker don't agree. Condominium sales continue to keep pace with the number of units being developed in Milwaukee's downtown and the surrounding neighborhoods. Developers and brokers say sales are going well and report steady interest from buyers.

Downtown remains a hot market because buyers like the idea of living close to work and entertainment venues. The lifestyle of a condominium appeals to buyers because they can escape the maintenance that comes with owning a home. There is no such thing as a typical buyer in this market. Young professionals and baby boomers are calling downtown home.

Rachel McCormick-Jennings of The Business Journal of Milwaukee highlights several condominium developments covering all price points: The Sterling (New Land Enterprises), City Green (New Land Enterprises), The Flatiron (Legacy Real Estate Development), and Cambridge River North (Cassidy Realty). The Business Journal of Milwaukee: Brewer's Hill shopping center development moving forward

Brewery Works Inc. has proposed to construct three buildings along the banks of the Milwaukee River in Milwaukee's Brewers Hill neighborhood. The entire development will add approximately 60,000-square-feet of retail space. The three-acre site is currently being used as a parking lot at the northeast corner of Pleasant and Commerce Streets. The proposal also includes an outdoor plaza and a river walk. At the time of this writing, it appears that Sendik's Food Market will be the anchor tenant. Brewery Works is in the process of finding additional tenants for this retail destination.

Pete Millard of The Business Journal of Milwaukee provides additional information about this retail opportunity and Sendik's future in Brewers Hill. Click here to read the entire article>>>

JSOnline: Trolleys return with new schedule

Good news! The trolley is returning this summer to downtown Milwaukee. Bad news! It will run a shorter route (sorry Brady Street merchants), fewer days, and a shorter shift.

Starting June 6, the trolley will operate Wednesdays through Saturdays, between 11:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. On the bright side, the trolley will run more frequently - every 20 minutes.

Larry Sandler of the Journal Sentinel provides additional details about this summer's trolley route. Click here to read the entire article>>>
