OnMilwaukee.com: Milwaukee considers reverse angle parking option
Parking Made SimpleReverse angle parking is an idea that a few cities in the U.S. are testing. Densely populated neighborhoods are the ideal areas that would benefit from this type of parking arrangement.
The advantages for angle parking, in general, are that it provides more street parking than parallel parking and it prevents people from opening doors into traffic. The advantages for reverse angle parking are the same as angle parking, plus it removes the problem of backing out of a space into traffic. The benefit of facing outward from a parking space eliminates the issue of blind spots and being able to see the flow of traffic.
The concept of reverse angle parking is being accepted by city officials. City Engineer Jeff Polenske who would have the final say about changing current angle parking spaces into reverse angle spaces said, “At this time we are not proposing to convert any of our existing traditional angle parking to reverse angle parking but we are considering the use of reverse angle parking at couple new locations."
